Historical Background:
The frigate Diana was launched on March 10, 1792, and was part of the "Mahonesas" series of frigates, named after their place of construction in Mahón. Thanks to its advanced design, the Diana sailed faster than its predecessors. The ship participated in the war against France along the Catalan coast and later served in Cadiz during the War of Independence. As part of the Havana naval forces, the Diana engaged in battles against corsairs in the Antilles and made several transatlantic voyages. The ship was eventually broken up in 1833 at the naval shipyard in Cartagena.
