Description of the Original Vehicle:
In the mid to late 1920s and even in 1931, Mercedes-Benz dominated the world racing scene with its SSK/SSKL models, empowered by the legendary 7.1-liter compressor. The SSKL, affectionately known as the "White Elephant," achieved significant success under the expert piloting of drivers like Rudolf Caracciola, Hans Stuck, and Otto Merz.
In the 1931 German Grand Prix, held at the Nürburgring, Mercedes-Benz fielded its SSK and SSKL vehicles. Despite challenges posed by economic crises and limited factory support, the Mercedes team triumphed. Rudolf Caracciola secured victory, while Otto Merz and Hans Stuck claimed fifth and sixth places, respectively.
The race, held in rainy conditions on July 19, 1931, involved 48 entrants from 10 nations. The SSKL, distinguished by its white paint and black horizontal stripe, showcased exceptional performance. Caracciola dominated the race, with the other Mercedes pilots contributing to the team's success.
This CMC model meticulously reproduces the iconic #12 SSKL driven by Otto Merz in that historic race. With a limited edition of 600 pieces, this collector's item captures the spirit of an era when Mercedes-Benz reigned supreme on the racing circuit.
